The diameter of a traditional Mongolian yurt is usually from 4 to 10 meters, the height reaches 5 meters. The walls of the frame are a lattice of thin laths, which are fastened together with leather straps. By stretching or compressing the bars, you can change the height of the housing. The canvas is covered with several layers of dense felt. This material keeps the room warm in winter and cool in summer.
The height of the yurt, listed in the Guinness Book of records, is 14 meters, which is approximately equal to the height of a three-storey building, and the diameter is almost 30 meters. The construction has 36 walls, 4 traditional supports and covers an area of 1000 sq.m. The capacity is about 500 people. There are two entrances. It took 1800 meters of felt to make a two-layer covering of the yurt.
